Honouring the past. Reclaiming the future.

For generations, many Métis people were pressured to hide their identity and culture. Through intimate testimonies and innovative stop–motion beadwork animation, Where Our Flowers Grow follows those reclaiming connections to reveal how a culture marked by silence and erasure continues to define itself from one generation to the next.

Produced as part of REDEFINED, a TIFF and NFB initiative supporting emerging Canadian and Indigenous filmmakers aged 30 and under.

Métis people of all ages share their journeys of cultural reconnection in a visually striking animated documentary where personal stories become the seeds of a collective resurgence.
