Ryan Sidhoo

As highlighted through the on-screen stories of True North, filmmaker Ryan Sidhoo gravitates toward projects of global relevance, aiming to bring them to life through a local lens.

After earning his Masters in Media Studies from The New School, Ryan has directed, developed and produced story-driven documentary content for companies that have included VICE, Pulse Films and Viacom. In 2014, he created and executive produced Welcome to Fairfax, a 10 part docu-series that aired for Participant Media.

True North is Ryan’s first collaboration with The National Film Board of Canada. With a penchant for travel, Ryan continues to pursue and develop projects focused on contemporary social issues that bring sport and culture together.

Graham Withers

The greatest gift of being a documentary editor is spending everyday at the intersection of deeply personal and wonderfully universal stories. On features and series, Graham has crafted engaging, entertaining and challenging stories of all stripes.  He holds the trust of directors to tell a compelling tale and the trust of their subjects to tell an honest one dear.  2018 has seen him nominated for a CSA for editing in a factual series for Viceland’s Payday, feature doc Transformer screening and winning awards at festivals, the launch of an exciting documentary series True North by the National Film Board;  Graham’s currently cutting his first true crime doc series for Viceland US.

Shirley Vercruysse

Shirley Vercruysse is the Executive Producer of the National Film Board of Canada’s BC & Yukon Studio, where she leads the team producing documentary and animation projects. The studio’s latest projects include the feature-length documentaries The Whale and the Raven and Because We Are Girls; the musical documentary The Road Forward; the animated shorts Shop Class and The Zoo; the short documentaries Way of the Hunter and Now Is the Time; and the Webby Award-winning documentary series True North: Inside the Rise of Toronto Basketball.
