Henrik Meyer jump-started his producing career with one of Germany’s biggest box-office hits of the 1990s, Talk of the Town. His last film in Germany before immigrating to Canada was Margarethe von Trotta’s award-winning Venice festival contender Rosenstrasse, one of the most successful foreign-language films at the US box office in 2004. His first Canadian production a year later was Leo Award-winning Everything’s Gone Green, written by Douglas Coupland.
More recent documentary productions as co-president of Cedar Island Films include a Canadian/German co-pro feature doc directed by Mirjam Leuze, The Whale and the Raven, winner of the WIFTV Artistic Merit Award at VIFF, Jennifer Abbott’s multi-award-winning feature doc The Magnitude of All Things (both co-produced with the NFB) and The Salmon’s Call by Joy Haskell for Knowledge Network.
Henrik is a dual Canadian/German citizen who’s been living with his husband in Vancouver since 2004.
