The Hollywood Reporter reaffirms NFB Commissioner Suzanne Guèvremont’s leadership with second Canada 25 honour

September 14, 2026 – Montreal – National Film Board of Canada (NFB)

National Film Board of Canada (NFB) Commissioner Suzanne Guèvremont has been named for the second consecutive year to The Canada 25: Top Deal and Decision Makers, The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list recognizing leadership in Canada’s film and screen industry.

Appointed Government Film Commissioner and Chairperson of the NFB in November 2022, Guèvremont has led a period of renewal at Canada’s public film producer and distributor. Guided by the strategic plan she has championed, the NFB is focused on authentic Canadian stories, mentoring emerging creators, forging stronger partnerships across the cultural and audiovisual sectors, and deepening its engagement with young audiences.

Guèvremont and her fellow honourees will be celebrated on the Main Stage at the THR Access Canada Summit, taking place September 14–16 during the Toronto International Film Festival.

I share this recognition with the dedicated teams and creators across the country who make the NFB a place for bold and distinctive Canadian voices. The NFB is committed to sharing stories that reflect the full diversity of Canadian experiences, reminding us that our differences are strengths to nurture and a source of unity,” said Suzanne Guèvremont, Government Film Commissioner and NFB Chairperson.

This latest recognition from The Hollywood Reporter follows Ms. Guèvremont’s selection to THR’s Canadian Women in Power List in May, honouring women who are helping to shape the future of the country’s film, television and music industries.

The third woman and first francophone woman to serve as Government Film Commissioner and Chairperson of the NFB, Suzanne Guèvremont has more than 25 years’ management experience in the higher education, culture and technology sectors. From 1999 to 2022, she was Director of Montreal’s École des arts numériques, de l’animation et du design (NAD-UQAC), which under her leadership became a globally recognized university school of animation and digital arts. Ms. Guèvremont has served on a number of boards of national organizations, including CBC/Radio-Canada and the Bell Fund, as well as Quebec’s Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC).
