Starting July 2, The Rooms in St. John’s is presenting The NFB at The Rooms, a free summer-long program of short films from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) running in a continuous loop in its theatre, with a special theme for each day of the week.

The NFB at The Rooms features a captivating collection of many of the NFB’s most acclaimed and beloved films, both animation and documentary, presented in these programs:

  • Reconnect with Home: Stories from Newfoundland and Labrador (programs 1 & 2)
  • NFB at the Oscars
  • Creative Inspiration for Kids
  • Indigenous Voices
  • Canadian Creators with an East Coast Twist
  • Let’s Celebrate: Animation from across Canada

Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest public cultural space, The Rooms has been reopened to the public since March 18. Thanks to its ample space and diligent attention to recommended COVID-19 protocols, it’s an excellent choice for individuals and families looking for a safe and enriching way to experience the finest in NFB cinema and storytelling.

“The Rooms recognizes that as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many community partners have not had the ability to offer regular programming. We are pleased to be able to support these partners by providing a venue where together, we are able to offer programming that represents our values—diversity, inclusion, accessibility and decolonization.”
– Kate Wolforth, Acting Director, Museums and Galleries, The Rooms
