Las Vegas, 3th April 2019 – Atempo and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) are delighted to announce at this year’s NAB Show (Las Vegas, April 8-11), that they are renewing their partnership for the next 10 years.
The two organizations have worked closely together in the past on NFB’s archiving project to distribute their vast collection of films and videos on a digital platform. By renewing this partnership for another 10 years, NFB will act as a trailblazer for Atempo’s new and innovative technological projects to help manage NFB’s audiovisual production.
Atempo’s Miria for Archiving software platform will be a key component in NFB’s new multi-site storage architecture and modified workflows. As with the initial developments in 2009, NFB’s R&D teams will work alongside Atempo’s Innovation Pole to integrate new features to keep valorizing NFB’s media assets. One such project is the use of storage analytics to proactively define the best data storage and movement strategies.
Both organizations will share their experience and know-how to enhance and develop new features within Atempo’s solutions in order to deliver highly relevant capacities to the M&E industry. Atempo will work hand in hand with NFB R&D teams to test the new features and validate user experiences.
“Renewing our partnership with Atempo is fully in line with NFB’s strategic development both in terms of technological innovation and for the production and distribution of our media assets”, Luisa Frate, CTO, COO and CFO of Canada’s National Film Board.
”We are delighted to pursue our relationship with NFB and we are grateful to all teams for their commitment and trust. In 2009, NFB had unmet requirements that Atempo was able to find a valid solution for. Over the past decade, NFB has played a key role alongside our R&D teams to enhance Atempo’s data archiving and management solutions. We are convinced that the coming decade will bring new challenges and renewed success to our partnership”, Luc d’Urso, CEO Atempo.
The goal of first technological partnership signed ten years ago was to digitalize NFB’s entire film collections. As a result of this collaboration NFB has been able to preserve, in digital format, all their audiovisual content using Atempo’s Digital Archive (ADA) solution. Atempo, through this partnership was able to enrich ADA’s feature sets with the aid of NFB’s audiovisual expertise.
The key points from this team collaboration:
- Moving large amounts of audiovisual data between geographically separate sites;
- Optimizing the storage of « cold » media assets during production;
- Automating archive audits to perform continuous data integrity checks of NFB’s long term digital archives.
“Atempo’s storage agnostic solutions have been key to successfully managing our archiving goals. Miria is reliable, scalable and flexible and ensures that our assets are completely safe for the long term.” Jimmy Fournier, NFB Director of R&D
“With NFB, Atempo has access to a customer who can accompany and validate current and future needs such as storage analytics. NFB is a strong voice in the Media & Entertainment industry. More than just keeping NFB’s data safe, our relationship is built on this joint commitment to exploring future functional and industry-related requirements.” Bernard Peultier, VP Technology & Innovation, Atempo.
